Pakistan women face India in Saff semis

LAHORE, Dec 18: Pakistan will face arch-rivals India in the inaugural SAFF Women`s Football Championship semi-final after being brushed aside by Nepal 12-0 in their third Group `B` match at Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh on Saturday.

While Pakistan will take on India in the first semi-final on Monday, Nepal will meet Bangladesh in the second semi on Tuesday. The final is scheduled to be held on Dec 23.


In Nepal`s mammoth victory, front-runner Anu Lama, who had registered hat-tricks against the Maldives and Afghanistan in previous matches, earned the third hat-trick of the event against Pakistan. She landed the opener in the 15th minute. Mira Maharjan doubled the lead in the 21st minute, while Laxmi Poudel made it 3-0 for Nepal who maintained the supremacy until the end of the first half.
In the second half, Nepal enhanced the lead to 7-0 with four goals in six minutes.
Earlier, Group `A` hot favourites India thrashed Bangladesh 6-0 to secure a place in the semi-finals.
