The reception party of newlyweds Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik took place at the Taj Krishna Hotel in Hyderabad on 15th April, Thursday amidst obvious media attention. A total of 500 to 600 guests including several from the field of politics, film and television, and eminent personalities from the other side of the border attended the party. Sania Mirza was dressed in a pink embroidered outfit for the occasion that made her look ravishing.
Everybody was excited about the marriage which had made front page news not only in India but the world over for all the controversies and trivia surrounding it, the reception too was being awaited with the same interest. A few among the elite guest list of the reception included Telugu Desam Party President and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Congress MP Subbirami Reddy, among others from the political circle. Hindi film and television actor Raza Murad and Telugu film actors Nagarjuna and Venkatesh also made it to the wedding reception party. However most of the bollywood personalities invited to the occasion refrained from coming, reports have claimed. Industrialist Subroto Roy of the Sahara Group was present at the occasion just like he has always been present in each and every occasion in Sania Mirza’s entire career ever since she started playing tennis from the age of ten. Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan, cricketer Sohail Tanvir and singer Waris Baig came from Pakistan to Hyderabad to grace the occasion. It is evident that the cross-border marriage has already generated media coverage not only in India but also across the border.
